I am still looking for a car and only yesterday realized that, if I have no money (or not enough money) I can buy a second hand car and to tune it, I mean to apply a technique of tuning in order to make it unique and adorable. So, I have even start a new category –               car tuning. You are welcome to get acquainted with it!
The 1st post in this category will be, actually, an introduction…
Car tuning is a process of making any car looking pretty and unusual… Strange explanation? It is my own. To tell the truth, it is an industry and to most people it is a lifestyle, they just can’t imagine their lives without it. So, tuning, is (again a process) but of car modification. What for? To make car look more beautiful or more sophisticated, to improve some of its technical features or driving performance. As a rule, any car made at the car factory can satisfy only the demands of an average driver and while tuning a car, you can make it look in a completely other way. It is possible even to reduce the fuel consumption. There is one more sphere of car tuning is an exterior tuning. In such cars it is possible not only to drive comfortable but also to feel comfortable.

                  Most of the car-lovers and mechanics adore modifying:
  • Engine. Thus, they achieve better driving performance, car becomes a speedy one, helps to economize fuel or to reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. The story of car engine tuning started many years ago with the modification of race cars and goes on till nowadays.
  • Body. For example you can add a spoiler, a wing or a body kit, in such a case it is possible to make the aerodynamic performance better. There is a very popular technique of car tuning – “shaving”. Top car makers in 2006: 1) Shanghai GM; 2) Shanghai Volkswagen; 3) FAW Volkswagen; 4) Chery; 5) Beijing Hyundai; 6) Tianjin FAW Toyota; 7) Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile; 8) Geely Automobile; 9) Guangzhou Honda ; 10) Dongfeng Peugeot Citreon. These top 10 automakers account for 70 percent of total sales.

As of 2005, there were 100 car makers in China, with a manufacturing capacity of 6 million vehicles. Competition is very fierce. There is a lot of price cutting and cost cutting. Few make any profit. The situation is expected to get worse. The industry is going through a $25 billion expansion, which is expected to double capacity by 2007. Stepping up production and expanding has been made possible by tax breaks, generous loans and cheap land from the government.
As of 2005, Chinese brands held a 26 percent market share, up from 2 percent in 2000. Top five Chinese automakers in 2005: 1) FAW Group; 2) Shanghai Automotive Industries; 3) Dongfeng Motors; 4) Changan Automotive Group; and 5) Beijing Automotive Holdings. Other larger manufacturers include Guangzhou Motors, Second Auto Works.
In 2000, China had 120 auto assembly companies. Thirteen accounted for 98 percent of the country's car sales. In June of 2004 government offered incentives for these companies to combine. The government’s aim to have three of four Chinese automakers become major players in the global market. First Auto Works (FAW) and Shanghai Automotive Industrial Corporation the only two that produce more than 500,000 cars a year. Eight others produce more than 100,000 cars but 95 failed to produce more than 10,000 cars.
There is no lack of ambition in the Chinese automobile industry. The Chinese billionaire Yin Mingshan has plans to move an entire $500 automobile engine plant—jointly owned by BMW and Chrysler—plant from Brazil to China There is an industrial zone devoted to automaking west of Shanghai called “Auto City.”
In 2009 GM sold Hummer to a an investment partnership headed by an obscure Chinese machinery maker—Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company—for about $150 million, much lower than the $500 million originally sought.

Suzuki's little hero is growing up for 2011
It's longer, taller and wider, but it's still unmistakably a Suzuki Swift.

The new 2011 model of the Japanese hatch has broken cover, with the company releasing the first official details of the car.
While it has retained the unmistakable lines of the quirky 2005 Swift, the new model is bigger in every way.
It is 90mm longer, the wheelbase (the distance between the front and rear wheels) has been stretched by 50mm and it is marginally wider and taller.
The car also has a wider stance, with the front and rear wheels wider apart. Suzuki predicts the new car will offer better noise refinement and safety, with extensive use of higher strength steel making the bodyshell lighter and stiffer than before.
“We are very excited about the preliminary release of the new car, but we are still some way off finalising the Australian version of the next Swift,” said Tony Devers, Suzuki Australian General Manager.
“The new Swift doesn’t go on sale here until the first half of next year, so we still have some development time to work through.”
The work will focus on finalising the engine and equipment specification of the car.
European models will be fitted with either a 1.2-litre petrol or a 1.3-litre diesel engine, but Suzuki Australia has admitted there are larger petrol engine options available.
The current range has a choice of has 1.5-litre and 1.6-litre petrol engines. Suzuki is also considering adding the diesel to the new model Swift.
The company won’t divulge the petrol options being considered, but Devers says they “offer even better performance and economy” than the current model.
The Swift is Suzuki Australia’s best selling model, chalking up more than 5000 sales already in 2010.
The new Swift will be on show at the Paris motor show in October.

In Japan, prices for the 2011MY Civic Type R Euro start from 3,000,000 Yen [including consumption tax] or about US$37,200.

Land Rover’s upgraded models of the Freelander 2 will be available for purchase in the UK markets near the end of September 2010.  The new models have been updated and fitted with a 2.2-liter diesel engine which lend the Freelander 2 improved efficiency and a stronger performance.
The turbo engine will be available in two different designs of the Freelander: the four-wheel drive, TD4 150PS model – which includes stop/start technology for both its manual transmission model and its automatic transmission model, although at an extra cost – and the SD4 190PS model, which is only offered with an automatic transmission.  Both engine models produce twenty Newton meters of torque and will meet tougher EU5 emissions regulations as opposed to the EU4 standards of the models predecessors.

SE and Limited Highlanders will come with Tech Audio which consists of integrated XM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth® connectivity and a USB port. Tech Audio is available as part of an option package on Base models that includes a backup monitor, eight-way power adjustable driver seat, tonneau cover, flip-up liftgate window, fog lamps, and black roof rails. Highlander Hybrid Base offers a new leather package with leather-trimmed heated front seats, leather trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, and moonroof; and SE models are now available with a navigation option.

[Updated with new photo] Called only the 'ED' when it was announced in July, Kia Motors' new model for Europe's all-important C-segment of small family cars will retain the unconventional name of its concept car predecessor - the Cee'd (pronounced "seed"). Apparently, the unwieldy moniker combines 'CE' - symbolizing the European Community - and 'ED' - standing for European Design. The role of the apostrophe remains unexplained...

The production version will debut at the Paris Motor Show in September, and go on sale before the end of the year. The Europe-only four-door hatchback will go head-to-head with Ford's European-model Focus, the Peugeot 307 and the Toyota Corolla.

One new initiative, led by the HUMMER H2 SUV and H2 SUT, is the standard FlexPower capability that will allow these models to run on E85 ethanol, gasoline, or any combination of the two fuels. E85, which consists of 85 percent ethanol mixed with gasoline, is a cleaner-burning, higher-octane fuel that can help offset rising demand for oil.

Mazda2 Extreme Rally Car

The Mazda2 Extreme was born of a simple idea: Take one of Australia’s most popular lightweight hatchbacks with a proven pedigree as the driver’s choice, add a sizeable dose of adrenalin, pump it full of steroids and … watch out.

The Mazda2 Extreme is the fourth in a stellar line of extreme Mazdas produced by Mazda Motorsport in Australia. It follows in the tyre tracks of the Mazda RX-8 (2004), the original Mazda2 Extreme (2005) and the Mazda3 MPS (2007).


The second-generation Mazda2 has been a runaway success for Mazda since its launch in September 2007, with more than 7,000 sales in just six full months. The Mazda2 Extreme builds on the unchallenged driver’s car reputation of this popular five-door hatchback, taking it to a new level of exhilaration.

The engine is still under development however Mazda Motorsport’s goal is to increase the car’s real world performance by at least 20 percent. A three-inch sports exhaust helps airflow from the engine and will ensure the Mazda2 Extreme has the raucous soundtrack it deserves. The standard car’s five-speed manual transmission is unchanged, and, like the production version it is based on, drive is delivered to the ground through the front wheels.


The car’s suspension system has been redesigned by Australian suspension tuning expert, Murray Coote, renowned for his work on some of the world’s leading rally and racing cars.

Coote configured a suspension package that tailors the Mazda2’s competent on-road skills for the dirt-road intensity of rally competition. Sports-tuned springs and shock absorbers team with purpose-built 15-inch Bridgestone Potenza rally tyres and lightweight Compomotive Motorsport alloy wheels.

The Mazda2 Extreme stands out visually with a striking blue, white and yellow paint scheme that epitomizes Mazda’s Zoom-Zoom DNA. Black flared wheel arches give the car a more aggressive stance, while four-spot Hella rally lights ensure this is one machine that can see in the dark.


The Mazda2 Extreme’s cabin has been prepared for battle; a full PCD roll cage has been installed and the standard Mazda2 front seats replaced with Italian Sabelt race seats each equipped with five-point safety harness. A Momo steering wheel, hydraulic handbrake, fire extinguisher and medical kit complete the internal makeover.

In its current form the Mazda2 Extreme retains its standard braking system. This includes antilock brakes with emergency brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution.

The end result is a Mazda2 like no other; a Mazda2 Extreme ready to rally.


“This was a surprisingly challenging Extreme car to do,” said Mazda Motorsport chief Allan Horsley. “Starting with such an agile car really put the pressure on when it came to improving its real-world abilities.”

“I think the result was well worth the effort. This Mazda2 Extreme sits proudly alongside our other Extreme cars like the RX-8 and Mazda3 MPS.”

Commenting on the Mazda2 Extreme, Mazda Australia’s managing director Doug Dickson said: “Mazda Australia, under the direction of Allan Horsley, has an excellent reputation for pushing the envelope in the design and modification of cars.”

“It seemed an obvious decision to unleash the Extreme beast lurking within our Mazda2 five-door hatchback. The Mazda2’s popularity with Australian buyers is at an all-time high. This award-winning light car is selling far above our expectations because it looks good, it represents great value for money, and it’s an enjoyable car to drive.”

NEW CARS>> FACTORY FIVE '33 HOT ROD

OK, so it probably sounds strange that there is a NEW car model called the "'33 Hot Rod", but I think that the latest offering from Factory Five Racing certainly qualifies as a "new" car. While old school hot rods are not lacking in character or coolness, the antiquated cars leave a lot to be desired as far as chassis design and performance potential goes. Factory Five Racing is well known for their popular Cobra kits and their latest design puts combines all of their sports and racing experience with all the style and simplicity of traditional hot rods.
As the name suggests, style-wise the car is based on the iconic early '30s Fords which were (and still are) very popular among rodders. The CAD-designed chassis was developed with performance in mind and weighs in at just over 2,000lbs! The chassis includes front coilover suspension and rear suspension derived from Factory Five's Challenge race cars. The roadster body (with optional hardtop) and a full interior are also included as part of the kit.
The buyer will supply their choice of engine and transmission (the car comes set up for classic or modern Ford small blocks), a rear end, wheels/tires, and paint and just a few other minor finishing touches. All of the hard and expensive work is done with this car, and with the modern chassis design and weight savings, these cars will be serious performers even at moderate power levels.
The whole kit comes in at just under $20,000. That figure may seem pricey to some, but it's pretty reasonable when you consider the amount of engineering that went into it, how complete the kit is, and how much performance potential it offers.
In a perfect world I would have two of them. One with a carb'd small block, whitewalls and steelies and another with a Honda F20C and some super wide TE37's...
